About Perc Test AZ

Built for homeowners stuck between contractors and the county.

Perc Test AZ was founded because too many Arizona property owners were getting the runaround. A homeowner with a beautiful five-acre parcel in Cave Creek or Prescott Valley would call three septic installers and get three wildly different bids, three different system recommendations, and three different timelines — none of which matched what the county would actually approve. The designs were oversized to pad the install, the perc tests were rushed, and the permit packages came back from environmental services flagged for corrections that cost weeks.

We built a different model. Perc Test AZ is design-only. We run the percolation test, evaluate the soil, design the system the site actually needs, and submit a clean package to your county. Then we hand the plans to you — and you hire any licensed installer in Arizona to build it. No conflicts. No upsells. No kickbacks. Just engineering the way it was supposed to work.

We cover the entire state because rural Arizona deserves the same speed and quality that urban projects get.

What We Do

  • Percolation testing & soil evaluations — on-site infiltration testing, soil profile logging, and groundwater assessment to determine what your land can actually handle.
  • Septic system design — both conventional (gravity drainfield, septic tank) and alternative systems including chamber systems, drip dispersal, ATU (aerobic treatment units), sand-lined trench, and seepage pit where allowed.
  • Construction observation — site visits during installation to verify the contractor built what we designed (optional, often required by county).
  • Permit packages — complete submittals to county environmental services, with revisions handled until approved.

Why Design-Only

We never install a single foot of pipe. We never sell a tank. We never take a referral fee from an installer.

That matters because it changes every incentive in the project. An installer-designer has a reason to recommend the biggest system the soil will tolerate — more material, more labor, bigger invoice. A design-only firm has the opposite incentive: design the smallest compliant system that meets your household's needs, because that's what gets permitted fastest and costs you the least to install.

When the design is right-sized and code-compliant, the county approves it. When you own the plans, you can shop the install to any licensed Arizona contractor and let them compete on price. That's how the relationship is supposed to work.

Credentials & Compliance

  • AZ Registrar of Contractors License #: [Operator: insert ROC #]
  • ADEQ Registered Designer: [Operator: insert ADEQ designer #]
  • Professional Engineer (PE) stamp, if applicable: [Operator: insert PE # or remove line]
  • Years of experience in AZ on-site wastewater: [Operator: insert years]
  • Professional affiliations (AOWA, NOWRA, ASCE, etc.): [Operator: insert]

All designs are prepared in compliance with Arizona Administrative Code Title 18, Chapter 9 (On-Site Wastewater Treatment Facilities) and the supplemental rules of each county environmental services division.

Counties We Serve

We are licensed and active across Arizona's four most populous counties, and we coordinate directly with each county's regulatory division:

  • Maricopa County — Maricopa County Environmental Services Department (MCESD)
  • Yavapai County — Yavapai County Community Development Services (CDS)
  • Pinal County — Pinal County Public Health Services District (PHS)
  • Pima County — Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)

Each county has its own quirks — submission portals, fee schedules, soil-test witnessing rules. We know them.

How Fast Is Fast?

Our standard turnaround is 48 hours from site visit to design package. Here's what a typical week looks like:

  • Monday — On-site perc test and soil evaluation.
  • Tuesday — Lab review (if soils were sampled), design drafted, calcs run.
  • Wednesday — Complete design package delivered to you for review.
  • Thursday — Final revisions, your signature.
  • Friday — Permit package submitted to county environmental services.

Most competing firms take 2–4 weeks just to deliver a design. We compress that to 48 hours without cutting corners — because design-only is all we do, every day.

Meet the Founder

[Operator: paste founder bio here — 80–120 words. Suggested structure: background in soils, civil engineering, or septic design; years working in Arizona on-site wastewater; what frustrated them about the old model; why they started Perc Test AZ; a personal note — family, where they live, what they do outside of work. End with a one-line "what I care about" statement.]
